Mr. Stern is a founding partner of Echelon Property Group with leadership responsibilities for all aspects of the company including business development, corporate strategy, operations, and client relations. In his previous role as founder of Baron Properties, Mr. Stern was responsible for corporate leadership, equity and debt sponsorship and acquisitions. At Baron, Mr. Stern acquired 30 properties valued over $450 million, deployed over $20 million in property repositions, executed over $24 million in condo conversion sales, and was involved in tax credit acquisitions, development, and note purchases. Mr. Stern created over $100 million of value for clients and investors at Baron. Prior to forming Baron Properties, Mr. Stern was responsible for acquisitions, due diligence and asset management and property management oversight with ProLogis, a global industrial property REIT. Previous experience also includes mortgage banking and construction. Mr. Stern received his MBA from the University of Denver with an emphasis in Real Estate and Construction Management and his B.S. in Finance from the University of Colorado. Mr. Stern is a member of the Young Presidents Organization, Apartment Association of Metro Denver, as well as several industry associations. Mr. Stern is a Colorado licensed real estate broker.
Mr. Powell is a founding partner of Echelon Property Group, with oversight responsibilities including all corporate and community operations, renovations, and asset management. Prior to forming Echelon, Mr. Powell was the Senior Vice President of Baron Properties for over 11 years, playing an integral role in managing the company's operations and capital deployment, including 30 acquisitions totaling more than $450 million, community renovation projects totaling more than $20 million, as well as creating and directing the management platform that expanded from its inception to managing over 4,500 units. Prior to his tenure at Baron Properties, Mr. Powell held District and Area Management positions at Lincoln Property Company and Equity Residential, where he started his career as a financial analyst. Mr. Powell is a Colorado native and holds a BA degree from the Colorado College. Mr. Powell is a past President of the Apartment Association of Metro Denver and is a Colorado licensed real estate broker.
As Senior Vice President for Echelon Property Group, Ms. Blaes oversees the operations, staff leadership, and overall performance of the management portfolio and is an integral part of establishing and executing the company's strategic vision and culture. Prior to joining Echelon in 2013, she was an essential part of Equity Residential's Denver office for more than 15 years. In her most recent position as Acting Vice President Property Management, she was responsible for the oversight and performance of up to 25 properties consisting of over 8,200 apartment units as well as over 200 on-sight employees and local corporate support team. Prior to this role, she was the Senior Regional Manager with hands-on management responsibilities of a large portfolio of properties ranging from Class A to Class C, and new lease ups and renovation properties. Judy has a broad background of experience in the multi family business and is known for her ability to maximize operating performance by engaging and motivating on site team members as well as mentoring and training Regional Managers. Prior to joining Equity, she worked in the fee management business for Spectrum Real Estate Services, Inc., and was an integral part of that company's management team and worked on over 100 receiverships. Judy holds CPM designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management. She also held the President and Treasurer seats on the St Lukes redevelopment district in downtown Denver for the last 6 years.
As Vice President of Accounting, Ms. Graber is responsible for the preparation, reconciliation and reporting of financial statements and related debt, tax, insurance and reserve accounting for a portfolio of over 20 apartment communities. Her role also includes cash management, compliance reporting, and audit coordination. Ms. Graber brings over 24 years of property management experience to her position, from on-site roles to information systems manager, project accountant and Assistant Vice President of Accounting. Ms. Graber's varied experience has provided her the ability to understand each position within property management and has successfully transformed job processes and work procedures, training techniques and overall communication. With previous positions at Omni Properties, AIMCO and Anterra Management, Ms. Graber has accounting experience with REITs, condominium conversions, HUD, Tax Credit, and multi-phase properties including individual and consolidated financials.
Ms. Robertshaw serves as Vice President Operations with more than 17 years of experience in the multi-family industry. Amie has an extensive background in the daily operations of property management. Her proven ability to lead and motivate teams, increase revenues, implement unique expense controls and generate successful marketing strategies makes her a valuable addition to the team. Additionally, Amie is highly skilled in 'Change Management' and has spearheaded numerous software and technology transitions and upgrades in her current role. Prior to joining Echelon, Amie was an Asset Manager for Capital Real Estate, LLC, where she oversaw management of over 2500 units. Her duties included oversight of financial operations, budgeting, investor relations, capital projects, and due diligence.
Amie graduated from the University of Florida. She is also currently serving as Secretary on the Executive Board for the Apartment Association of Metro Denver, along with serving as Chair for the Spring Clean Committee, a large event supporting Family Homestead.
Ms. Lucero serves as an Regional Manager, where she oversees the daily operations of a portfolio of communities in Denver and Northern Colorado. Jamie has been a part of the Echelon team since February of 2013 and has 10 years of experience in the multi-family industry prior her time with Echelon. She has an extensive background in the daily operations of property management and has specialized in renovations and restoration of vintage properties. Her proven leadership and coaching techniques, ability to increase revenues, and control expenses make her a valuable addition to the Echelon team. Jamie graduated from the University of Colorado and was a member of the Psi Chi National Honor Society. She plans on gaining her CAPS certification in 2016 and is an active member of the Apartment Association of Metro Denver.
Ms. Richardson serves as the Area Manager for Echelon’s Low Income Tax Credit (LIHTC) portfolio. Chanele has been a part of the Echelon team since 2010 years and has 15 years of experience in the multi-family industry prior to her time with Echelon. She has an extensive background in the daily operations of property management and has specialized in tax credit properties and tax credit lease ups. During her time in the industry she has served as Property Manager, Multi-Site Manager, Mentor and Tax Credit Compliance Manager for tax credit communities, lease ups, rehabs and traditional market communities. Prior to joining Echelon, Chanele was with Carmel Companies and Richman Property Group. Her onsite knowledge, tax credit expertise, and commitment to excellence, make her a valuable addition to the Echelon team. Chanele graduated from Community College of Aurora and has an Associate of Arts Degree with Business Emphasis. She also holds the Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor (CAPS) designation thru the National Apartment Association.
Mr. McDonald serves as a Regional Manager for Echelon Property Group, operating a portfolio of multi-family sites located in Metro Denver, Northern Colorado, and Wyoming. Jason joined the Echelon team in 2015, accompanied with a diverse background in property management, beginning in 1998. Such diversity includes serving as a Community Manager, Marketing Director, Multi-Site Manager, Commercial Property Manager, and Regional Portfolio Manager. Jason’s emphasis on building a team has proven success in both Multi-Family and Commercial Property operations. In addition to building and motivating teams, Jason has a significant amount of experience repositioning communities, managing capital improvements, and maximizing NOI.
Jason earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Dakota, majoring in Mass Communication, emphasizing in both Advertising and Public Relations, minoring in Business.
Ms. Ivory serves as a Regional Manager for Echelon overseeing a portfolio of communities in the Denver Metro area. Hope has over 15 years of experience in the multi-family industry. With positions ranging from Property Manager and Real Estate Associate to Multi-Site Property Manager, Hope has a broad range of operational experience. In the past few years, Hope has overseen several major renovation projects on 300+ unit communities in her portfolio. Her attention to detail, strong operational and renovation background, and effective leadership make her a valuable member of the Echelon team. Hope's previous experience includes Greystar, Riverstone Residential, Omni Properties and Sevo Miller.
Hope is currently a CPM candidate with IREM and is very involved with the Apartment Association of Metro Denver.
Ms. Lewis serves as a Regional Manager with more than 11 years of experience in the multi-family industry. Ashley has an extensive background in the daily operations of property management and has held several positions in the industry. Her experience includes: leading and motivating teams, strategies to increase revenue, expense control, renovation and capital projects, budgeting, hiring/training, acquisitions/dispositions, and improving overall property conditions. Ashley has several years’ experience and a proven track record in mentoring and bringing teams up to success. Ashley’s previous experience includes JPI and Alliance Residential.
Mrs. Lewis holds an MBA from Regis University, a B.A. in Business Management from Metropolitan State College, and CAPS designation thru the National Apartment Association.
Ms. Hatter serves as an Area Manager for Echelon Property Group. Christine oversees several properties throughout Colorado including Metro Denver, Colorado Springs and Boulder County. She has been a part of the Echelon team since 2010 and has over 13 years of experience in the multi-family industry prior to her time with Echelon.
Christine has held various positions in the property management real estate arena. Her success can be attributed to her leadership qualities as well as her effective and innovative management strategies. These skills have been imperative in creating and implementing specific job training strategies for Echelon Property Group.
Christine holds the Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor (CAPS) designation thru the National Apartment Association. She is an active member of the Apartment Association of Metro Denver having held several board member positions and being recognized as a recipient of the Paul Novashansky Diplomat award.
Mr. Holmes serves as Regional Facilities Director and is responsible for the maintenance operations, training of maintenance personal and vender management for Echelon Property Group. Corey has over 18 years of experience in the apartment industry. Prior to joining Echelon Property Group, Mr. Holmes has worked with Shea Properties and Equity Residential. Corey started off as a groundskeeper with Equity Residential and quickly moved up to become the Floating Service Director for a portfolio consisting of over 8200 units. Mr. Holmes was the Operations Manager for Shea Properties where he oversaw the training and service operations for their entire portfolio consisting of 8000 units spanning California and Colorado.
Mr. Holmes holds a B.A. in Business Management from Colorado State University. He has completed academic course work in construction management and holds certifications in the following areas: EPA 608 Universal, Licensed EPA 608 Proctor, CPO, Licensed Water Restoration Technician from the IICRC, Asbestos and Certified Renovator for Lead.
Mr. Jenulis serves as Project Manager and is responsible for the implementation of capital related projects. Jason has over 17 years’ experience in the apartment industry. Prior to joining Echelon Property Group, Mr. Jenulis has worked with Alliance Residential, BRE Properties and Greystar. Jason started off as a maintenance technician and quickly moved up to become a Regional Capital Manager with BRE Properties where he oversaw the capital improvements for both the Denver and Phoenix markets. Mr. Jenulis has experience with REIT Properties, Joint Ventures and Fee Managed Properties. Mr. Jenulis is a certified Maintenance Trainer and also holds his EPA Certified Proctorship.
As Systems Training Director for Echelon Property Group, Ms. Thomas oversees training of our property level teams in regards to processes and systems. She has an integral role in implementing new system processes to enhance and streamline property procedures. Ms. Thomas brings over 20 years of property management experience and previously held various positions with Pinnacle Property Management Group, and Equity Residential, including on-site management, internal auditing, property inspections, field training, and coordinating company events.
Maritza joined Echelon Property Group with an extensive amount of experience in multifamily housing. With over 16 years specifically in the industry, Maritza's most recent position was with Riverstone Residential Group where she was an Administrative Assistant for several years. As the Operations and Development Manager, Mrs. Hearn is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the operations, due diligence and acquisitions of Echelon.
Maritza's dedication to her peers, superiors and owners alike are unparalleled, contributing to the success of the day to day operations within our organization. With her experience in the industry encompassing onsite and corporate level positions; Maritza can relate to all levels of management and has the profound ability to overcome obstacles and ensure everyone is ahead of the game.
As Senior Property accountant, Clare is responsible for the accounting on-boarding of all new acquisitions, as well as financial statement preparation, reconciliation and reporting for some established apartment communities managed by Echelon Property Group. Clare is also responsible for the training of new accountants, and monthly financial statement review for a portfolio of properties. Clare graduated from the University of Colorado at Denver with a bachelor's degree in Accounting. Prior to her employment with Echelon, Clare was employed as a senior tax auditor for six years with the City and County of Denver. Clare enjoys playing sports, going on hikes, making glass art/jewelry, and spending time with family and friends.
As Accounts Payable Manager, Renee oversees and regulates accounts payable functions, including internal controls, tax reporting, vendor compliance, check disbursements, and vendor reconciliations. Her role also includes maintenance of P-cards, budget uploads and cash management. Renee has over 20 years of experience as an Accounts Payable Manager, of which 5 of those years are in Property Management. Renee's previous position at Carmel Partners is where she brings her experience with REITS, student housing and multi-phase properties. Renee is a member of The Institute of Financial Operation, a valuable education network with a particular focus on accounts payable disciplines and a leading-edge resource advancing her knowledge, expertise and technology performing best practice procedures.
Steve Wunch, Sr. Director of Training & Education, Steve is responsible for managing and ensuring the delivery of high-impact, targeted learning experiences to over 250 team members in Echelon Property Group’s entire portfolio. Steve knows the importance of making learning “stick”. A proven learning leader in the multi-family sector for over 20 years, Steve brings humor and energy into shaping the behaviors that move the metrics . Having worked for some of the biggest REIT players (Archstone, Aimco, and Equity), all across the country – literally - he’s seen a lot of training strategies, and has developed his own unique approach to learning that creates the bottom line results that his business partners are looking for. Through engaging, well-facilitated workshops, and prescriptive performance support, he is impacting success, and having fun doing it, and so are his participants! Steve began his career in multi-family as a Leasing Consultant, then Assistant Manager, Community Manager, and has been in several training and support roles, working his way into a Learning & Development role that has no equal. Steve is a DDI (Developmental Dimensions International) Certified Facilitator, and an MBTI Type I & II Certified Practitioner.
